Yes, there was some discussion on the mailing list and the conclusion
seems to be that my patch is good, and that all remaining users of
PED_ASSERT need reviewed and the second argument completely dropped, and
any other users that actually expect the second argument to be used need
rewritten simila
Regarding PED_ASSERT, it may be useful to refer to

(which I think supports your change).
