Since the problem is gone and Emmanuel believes this was not actually a
bug I believe the correct action is to set status to invalid?

in fact i don't see the problem anymore. i think it may have been cause
for me by bad gamma for the screen (which came from
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/548709 ).
anyway now it works OK again, i don't have blurry fonts anymore in this
theme.

it's still present in the latest lucid for now. i think it's quite
annoying, the fonts really do look blurry to me, exactly for the
selected menu item or selected text, which is what you want to read more
often.

0.90.3+git20091211-0ubuntu1 from my cache fixed the rendering.
