This happened to me just now after a fresh reboot.
Killing gwibber-service and restarting it allowed things to work again.
Perhaps gwibber-service is being run before the network is stable?

I experienced this just after doing a dist-upgrade from 9.04 to Lucid
Beta1. I didn't install/use gwibber in 9.04 at all.
I had the following in my /etc/hosts:
127.0.0.1 localhost,cromo #The second entry is my laptop name
Removing my laptop name from above fixed the issue. It seems
couchdb/dns
I did kill gwibber-service and restarted it but that didn't solve the
problem. Gwibber still crashes

As a workaround I killed gibber-service and restarted it by hand. gibber
then started ok.
