Consider a new text field, adjacent to the 'command' field, in which the user types the command's arguments. The 'command' field's events can be set up to escape spaces whenever its contents change, and since the args will go in a separate field, there is no confusion over which spaces need escaping--every space in the 'command' field will. Existing commands read in from .desktop files will be easily parsed to fit into the new two-field scheme.
