affected with a similar issues

I'm having the same (or worse) problem.
I was running dapper on my G4 Quicksilver with no problems. I try to
dist-upgrade to Edgy and after rebooting, I end up with a blank screen.
I switch over to a terminal and it won't let me log in.
So, I download the edgy ppc live CD. The computer starts u

today)... seems as bad as ever.

Yep, I just tried stopping pbbuttonsd (never occurred to me that might
be a factor), and performance does seem to be noticeably better.

Indeed, I don't think this problem is X related at all. Marking it
rejected (for pacakge xorg-server) - bug is still open/valid for
pbbuttonsd, though.

Hmm, without X running, console performance isn't noticeably better, and
I can reproduce the sticking-auto-repeat feature there too. So I guess
this isn't an X problem at all.
