Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: update-manager

trying to install beta and the above command doesn't complete.  It shows
the warning "you are about to install beta software... do not install on
production machine", I click Upgrade, it then says "downloading 2
files", then it exits without any message.  Searched logs using log
viewer but can't see one that has any useful info.  Hope attached files
hold the key...
