Hy Colin,
If I booted latest daily Precise libe CD for example with Unity 2d and
run gksu gedit or gksudo gedit command, I get following error message:
ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ gksu gedit

I'm afraid I'm not prepared to switch to sudo; that has other
consequences (if you're running ubiquity in an environment where it
