David and All,
The alsamixer and bios were set correctly. I followed every relevant
step in the "Debugging Sound Problems" link.
When I ran the operating system from the live cd,everything worked fine.
Realizing everybody working on this,many of whom are volunteers,are
working against a deadline
First, for the alsamixer issue, the "M" button toggles whether an item
is enabled or not.
Second, the onboard soundcard is not detected at all, this is in order
if you disabled it in BIOS.
You said you have permission problems. Could you elaborate? Is it a
terminal command that returns "permissio
Several days ago,I attempted System>Administration>System Testing,got a
report,and tried to submit it. It would not connect.
This morning,I repeated the test,(including the part where it showed my
sound card,asked me to test,and I got no sound at all).
I send it,and this time it connected but it

Thank you.
I went to the page and did the link specific to KK first and then the
main page,starting with [1].
Now,I found these two things:
1. In alsamixer,everything was green and at least as high as
seven,except for the column labeled simply IEC958. I horizontal arrowed
to it and tried
