Added halevt and libboolstuff separately from apt-get and then install
hipo.
The UI appeared but nothing in the UI is working. Menu opens but clicking on
any of them does not do anything.
Also, at the bottom, it says, 'No IPOD found' even though my IPOD is connected.
Not sure what is wrong and

Dear all...
I had the same bug and I did tried to do fix it by Installing the package
mentioned by JD,but nothing fixed.
I try another apps known as Rhythmbox 0.13.1 and it's work perfectly ;).
Keep trying...

In comment #5 it is suggested to restart dbus. I am relatively new to
UBUNTU so could someone tell me what the command would be to do this?

For #4, after installing hal, you'll need to restart dbus to make the
error go away. At least that fixed it for me...

This bug happens for me as well on 10.04, however I have hal and mono
all their dependencies installed. It would be handy if someone could
post a workaround (i.e. list what packages are missing)

I had this same bug but i installed some packages using the synaptics
package manager and now i am able to open file hippo... but it doesn't
detects my ipod video 30G. Does anyone has this same problem? Can you
guys help me? But I was able to access my ipod with gtkpod iPod manager
though! :D
