I get this behaviour with a Thinkpad T43 too with radeon x300. I'm using
the 2.6.32-21-generic kernel which came out yesterday/today. I've
resumed/suspended before but have not noticed this before, so it may be
a regression.
There are already 4 bug reports which point to similar behaviour.

The warning reported here typically indicates that it took longer for
your system to resume from suspend than expected. I believe there is a
5 sec barrier which your system likely exceeded. Based on your dmesg

1201N netbook I just upgraded from 9.10 to 10.4 - was not having this
