It seems that running without encryption does help the problem, although
doesn't eliminate it.

I can't get wireless working with any options now. However, sometimes it
takes me modprobe -r'ing ipw2200 and re-adding it to get the TX_POWER
errors, other times it does it by itself. I'm not sure what's going on.
I'm using gnome-network-manager for interface handling.

Edit the #kopt line inside the default options section and then rerun
update-grub. Are you sure that irqpoll is needed, or does the lapic
option alone work? And could you please attach a dmesg for each of the
working and non-working cases?

I have a Tecra A4 with the same issue. I was able to resolve it once before by
adding some options to my grub config, but they recently got whacked on a
kernel update. After an hour or two of digging (again) I found the thread that
fixed my problem
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=234304
Is there anything else I can provide to assist in troubleshooting? The
problem remains in the latest Edgy.

I've attached /proc/interrupts for your viewing pleasure. USB still
works. This is running on Dapper, I can get Edgy on here and test it as
well if you'd like. I was waiting for the initd replacement to go live
before upgrading but maybe the newer kernel has a fix for this ipw2200
problem.

Shoot, I never got the email notification for Matt's comment, one of my
Thunderbird adaptive filters probably ate it on another machine. I'll be
back where the laptop is monday and will get a response to you then.
Sorry for the delay, I'd love to get this fixed, just didn't know this
entry had been
