Well, since it already got approved once, and now the metacity situation
is less suitable, I'll approve as long as the menu dependency is dropped
again.

reopening.
metacity now depends on the whole gnome desktop, including canberra.
compiz might work, but is still a bit unstable (2d parts). Proposing to
promote it as a window manager which is just known to work.
Need to decide if we want to keep the dependency on menu, or patch it
out.

No big objections, but I am interested why metacity wouldn't work? It's
closer to what folks will actually use with OpenJDK on Ubuntu?

well, we install compiz as default, so it's even different. main reason
is to keep the build dependencies to a minimum; twm can always be
installed, but maybe not metacity due to some kind of transition.

hmm, twm depends on menu, which is also in universe. Not sure if we want
this in main (however we could just disable the dependency brought in by
dh_installmenu).

metacity may not be the default, but b-d on metacity doesn't require
pulling a windowmanager (which is far from simple code, even in the case
of twm) into main just to use as a build-dependency for one package. I
would certainly recommend b-d'ing on metacity instead of promoting this.
