I had too little swap, only 2GB with 3GB of memory. After adding a 1GB
swapfile resume from hibernate works although it takes twice as long as
doing a normal startup of the system.

If you could also please test the latest upstream kernel available that would
be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue.
