Yes I can see that change. But it does not actually fix the bug.
Replacing in tex-mode.el
2646 (source-file (tex-main-file))
with
2646 (source-file (expand-file-name (tex-main-file)))
the bug still exists.
For now, I've hacked in a fix by commenting out the offending command:
