I'm not sure if they actually changed code to get kaffeine to work, or
instead just decided to open the .iso file with file->open. If it was a
patch, it will probably be in their next release, which I suspect will
be out in time for gutsy.

They just fixed it last week. http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=143427
How long do you think it will be for that fix to get integrated?

Please check bugs.kde.org for other mentions of this bug. I believe
that's where kaffeine tracks its bugs for developers.

No. The DVD at the end tells it to start playing the DVD. The -d
option tells it to look for the DVD/CD at that particular location.
The error message shown when run suggests that the -d option is not being used:
libdvdread: Could not open /dev/dvd with libdvdcss.
libdvdread: Can't open /dev/dvd f
I think the DVD at the end of your command "kaffeine -d /path/to/backup
DVD" should be removed. "kaffeine -d /path/to/backup"
-d, --device
Set Audio-CD/VCD/DVD device path (e.g. /dev/cdrom)
All that would be necessary would be the options (-d or --device) and
the argument (/path/t
This is a bug in Dapper. --device is ignored as well.
Thank you,
Jeff
