I believe this is fixed at least in 12.04. If you still get crashes with
it, file a new bug by using 'ubuntu-bug xorg'.

Have seen this behavior on both 10.04 and 10.10.
I have a tablet with a very dubious connection - it is very easy to cut
it by merely moving the cord. Frequent "plug-ins" and "plug-outs" cause
X to crash unexpectedly and GDM to greet me again.

I run Ubuntu 10.04 and I have a Wacom Volito2 I also have the
connects/disconnect issue with it since a couple of weeks.
The Volito has a little LED on the front which is on when a USB connection is
established.
Now it just flickers. I don't have any crashes but since I want to use it

OK, it happened again. Apport didn't detect it (didn't show any info
when I next logged in, nor is there anything in /var/crash). So I've

I believe we're also seeing this same bug here, on mythbuntu 10.04 with
a Wacom Graphire 3.
Over the past week or so we've been getting occasional gdm session
crashes which seem to be triggered sometimes when we move the pen into
range on the tablet (i.e. we're just about to perform some mouse act
I might add that plugging in or plugging out the USB cable causes GDM to
exit without saving and restart. In Karmic, the Xserver just used to
freeze occasionally or cause text on screen to be selected without
releasing the selection mechanism. The only way out of this was to
unplug the Wacom tablet
