I've done the updates to the latest version of Lucid (sorry for not replying

What happened when you tried to mount /home from the maintenance shell?
Did it give an error message?
After starting a maintenance shell, please run 'mountall --debug >
mountall.log' and attach the log here.

S didn't do anything. M gave me the maintenance shell, however I wasn't
able to mount the drive /home is on using it. What's really bizarre
about it is that sometimes it works perfectly, other times it doesn't.
There doesn't seem to be any consistency in what happens.

Ok. Can you explain what you mean when you say "going into the manual
settings"? The message should give you options to 'skip' the mount by
pressing S, or to enter a 'maintenance shell' by pressing M. You're
saying that S has no effect? Are the "manual settings" the maintenance
