I'm using -proposed and the buttons are on the left for me, but they are
still Chromium-specific, not like the system theme. I don't know if this
is intended or not.

It's now in the Beta Channel PPA, and i've just sent it to the Stable Channel
PPA.
I will update Maverick shortly.
As for Lucid, it will have to wait for the next upstream update as updating
Lucid involves a SRU and a lot more testing.

nope, both Maverick and Lucid are following the stable channel.
The fix is only in trunk and in the dev channel (both M6). Hence, it's not
fixed in the beta and stable channels (both M5)
I guess i can try to backport the fix in maverick, but i'm not sure it
will qualify for a SRU in lucid-updates
As this bug is fixed upstream marking fix committed. Status can be
changed to fix released as chromium is updated in Maverick to the
development series
