If it's still not working, there is a patch in the just-released 3.3
kernel to add EDID support for CEA video modes. Several people have
reported gaining additional, much wanted modes. A PPA of this kernel is
available at http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/

here is the log linked to the xorg.conf file attached previously.
What I d like understand is if there is any benefit of waiting for some
patches already in the pipe, or if this issue is linked to a bug or if
it's a configuration problem.
