I have a mixture of systems (Intel and AMD CPUs, Intel, AMD, Nvidia mb
chipsets) connected together with an Airlink101 4-port KVM switch. All work
fine with lucid (as of 4/22/2010) except systems with Intel Clarkdale CPUs and
Intel H55 mb chipsets. These systems run as far as the grub menu, but after
that no splash screen, just blank screen and after about 10 secs the monitor
goes into standby. Also I can not connect with these systems via SSH. If after
the grub menu I switch the KVM switch to another system, wait 20 secs and then
switch back to the Clarkdale/H55 system I find it has booted to the desktop but
has not idea what monitor I am using. If I boot the system with the monitor
connected directly to the system (leaving the keyboard and mouse connected
through the KVM switch) then every thing works fine. Fedora 13 beta works the
same way. Ubuntu 9.10 livecd will boot , but only to the command line and video
is flaky (I think because the intel video driver doesn't understand the
Clarkdale GPU).
If you need more info I warn you I am a linux newby, but I follow directions
well.
