I do not know about Precise Pangolin because I am still using Lucid with
all patches. It no longer occurs in lucid. Upgrade to linux-
image-2.6.32-43-generic is in process. If it occurs again, I will
update.

I have 5 HP Touchsmart TX2 laptops. On all of them, when I do shutdown,
the system appears to shutdown but does not actually turn off. This did
not happen in Karmic. It started with 10.04 Lucid. I tried the upstart
job in comment #3. Has no effect. Have to manually press and hold the
power switch
Correction. Adding the upstart job in comment #3 works only
intermittently. If I do anything to the uloadradeon.conf file -- even
just access it via gedit -- the job will run at the next shutdown, but
not thereafter.

I can also confirm this bug on HP tx2. The upstart config from #3
resolves that. Only caveat is no splashscreen on shutdown/restart but I
can live with that. Thanks!

Ok, I created a workaround that uses upstart instead . I just created an
upstart job in /etc/init that removes the module. The job file is
attached.

[RS780 KMS] no poweroff on halt with KMS enab
I was able to come up with workaround of sorts. After doing some
research, I figured out how to manually unload the radeon module, and
created an script to do that (attached) which I placed in init.d and,
after running update-rc.d, I got to work... sort of. Apparently it only
works properly when I
