It may be intentional, but it is clear that a number of people do not
recognize what you are attempting. It might be better to have a text
message associated with the pictures. In addition, not hitting a key
takes you to a "can't install" error message which does not seem
appropriate.

This is an intentional change. The pictures shown are meant to indicate
that you need to press a key (keyboard icon) to enable accessibility
options (accessibility icon). The choice between "Try Ubuntu" and
"Install Ubuntu" is now handled on the first screen of the installer.

After trying the action above and realizing I could not connect because
my wireless was not configured. I tried rebooting and because nothing
else appeared to work I hit the enter key when the icon screen first

Can you please attach /var/log/syslog and any files present in
/var/log/installer, before you click on the dialog?
Alternatively, you can switch to a virtual terminal (ctrl-alt-f2) and
type `apport-collect 569527`.

Exact same issue here. It installs fine on my laptop from a the USB
startup disk I made. Unfortunately, my desktop doesn't have the option
to boot from a USB disk so I have to use a CD, which gives me this
problem.
