I am also getting same error when I try to run Scilab software.
Software justs shuts down immediately. Kindly help.

I've the same problem
V [libjvm.so+0x25a3b1]
but in karmic there was a different azureus-bash-startscript which included a
compile exclusion for a problematic java class.
I attached the patch i applied to my startup-script (sudo patch -p0
azureus-startscript-patch.patch) and at least for now
i un-installed the icetea java and went for suns JRE. problem not longer
happens. I would suggest this until this version becomes more stable
