Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pulseaudio

Fresh installation of Ubuntu 10.04.

The built in mic on my HP laptop doesn't work (it used to work fine
under -karmic) while an external microphone plugged in the 1/8" mic
input works just fine.

I have no manual option to select internal or external mic under gnome-
volume-control.

I've found out that in Ubuntu 10.04 there is no possibility to manually
select either the internal or the external mic but autoswitching is done
based on jack presence (i.e. when an external mic jack is plugged in,
the internal microphone is muted and only the external one works; and
when no external mic is plugged in, the internal microphone should
work).

Anyway, in my case an external microphone connected to the 1/8" jack
input works but when I disconnect it, the internal mic doesn't work at
all.

Please see the attached file (hope it helps).
Also please let me know what other information is relevant for you (and how to
retrieve it).

- Release: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS
- pulseaudio: 1:0.9.22~0.9.21+stable-queue-32-g8478-0ubuntu14
- alsa-base: 1.0.22.1+dfsg-0ubuntu3

Thanks in advance
