bme, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release

At my first expiriencing Ubuntu LTS 10.04 , This issue happened on my Acer
Extensa 5230E laptop :
Over heating ! I used windows XP-Vista-7 and all the notebook was cool !
the fan works normally , but the laptop becomes hot !

I installed eee-acpi-utilities to be able to set my netbook to power saver mode
on battery. This solved my overheating problem for the time being although temp
still hovers at 50-52 degrees C on normal use.
I know this is not a Ubuntu solution. There should be a way to control
temperature from

I am sorry but I am not that good in linux specifically kernel compilation,etc.
Also I have installed eeepc utililty to bring the unit to power save mode just
to bring down the heat at the expense of speed.
Sorry to say but this issue is a show stopper for me.

Hum, it shouldn't be related to UNE itself. Can you try to start the
GNOME session (logout, and choose GNOME as a session once your picked
your name) and report if you have the same result there?

thermal trip points set at 85 active and 82 passive. how to change these
