I can confirm the bug is still present in 10.10
Installed it on my netbook the other day and had to set ipv6 to false in
order to download add ons.

I found out this was due to the ipv6 functionality in the interface
configuration. Problem resolved after disabling ipv6. Thanks.

Quick followup: Maybe everyone else knows this, but a simple restart of
the browser after the IPv6 change may not work. I had the same problem
with Seamonkey and used the same fix. I had to do a full reboot before
the setting appeared to take effect; just restarting Seamonkey did not.

Disabling IPv6 in Firefox via about:config didn't work for me either,
but carrying out the modifications to /etc/sysctl.conf described above

OK, i worked out the reason for that. It seems to be an IPv6 problem.
To install addons you have to:
1. add the following lines to /etc/sysctl.conf
net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6 = 1
net.ipv6.conf.default.disable_ipv6 = 1
net.ipv6.conf.lo.disable_ipv6 = 1
2. execute: sysctl -p

Does anyone affected by this bug have a firewall setup that could be
blocking the download from the Mozilla servers? More importantly, is
there anyone affected by this bug that has had no success with the
previous fixes mentioned and doesn't have a firewall enabled?

As far as I'm aware, there's no special firewall setup on my machine.
It's a dual boot machine - one disk with XP, the other with Lucid 10.04.
My installation of 10.04 is stock-standard - I haven't tweaked any
special settings, and neither did I do so when I had 8.04 LTS running
(it worked fine!).
I have a desktop computer updated from 9.10 and a laptop with a new
installation of 10.04 Lucid Linx. No firewall special configured.
