I'm having a very similar problem on my IBM x3650 server with and ATI video card. If I don't change the mode to F00 I can't see anything. Maybe there should be an easy way to change this... I remember in ubuntu server 8.04 you could just press F4 and select Safe VGA mode. -- You received this

I confirm the 2nd part is fixed : on proprietary driver, when GFX capabilities cannot be foound at boot time, consoles back in text mode (no fb) and ubuntu logo, while not as beautiful as full logo with Plymouth, is a text logo too (so it is readable again). i'm not able to test the vga=... proble
