Luis, that sounds like a separate issue. Perhaps you should open another bug
for it?
Anyway, I'm inclined to close this bug since I got sound working in Chromium
again. I simply went to System -> Sound and switched input.
But it seems that other people are having problems upstream so perhaps we
chrome-browser-stable does not display this behavior. A single ALSA
plugin [chrome] entry appears in the Sound preferences.

chromium is adding a huge number of "ALSA plugin [chromium-browser]"
entries in the Applications tab of the Sound Preferences app. So many
that the window overflows available screen space by a long margin. It
does this even with all plugins disabled. It seems to me that something
is failing in t
btw, I've just joined the bug report 'upstairs' - perhaps we should
discuss it there since it's apparently not Ubuntu-specific.
