Same problem here with the most recent mainline kernel 3.1.4 for oneiric
ocelot (11.10). While I do have a USB card reader attached,
disconnecting it does *not* influence the time gap at boot time.

I can confirm this on my desktop computer (can't add dmesg as I'm currently on
my laptop, which seems to work just fine).
1) dmesg shows some huge gaps and
2) when GDM shows, it hangs a long time (20seconds+) where neither mouse nor
keyboard are responding - however, all keypresses/mousemovement
I'm having a very similar problem to what is being described here.
Previously my boot times were very quick, now I'm waiting several
minutes before things get going.

I do have the same initial problem. The pause in 7-18 seconds. I tried
to disable usb support by appending "nousb" to the kernel line in the
grub boot menu by pressing "e". However this doesn't do the trick for
me. Can you confirm that. Probably the pause doesn't have anything to do
with usb [sdb]
I'm having the same problem, it stops for 14 seconds at that same line.

The UUID given by /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume is the same as the
one in /etc/fstab.

I have been using Lucid for a couple of weeks now and the boot times
have been very quick, but just today it refused to boot or was booting
so slow that I lost patience. It happened two or three times in a row,
never coming up. So I booted into recovery mode, did a "sudo shutdown -h
now" at the pro
I'm under a Acer Laptop. I have it slowing boot over 2 minutes. At the
dmesg output, the udev line only comes at 140.966 secs.
