I have an old Toshiba Satellite Pro A20 (w/ P4-HT), and I had the same
network lockups.
Disabling IO-APIC with the "noapic" boot option completely solved the
issue.

No! I was wrong. I just continued testing upstream kernel 2.6.34-999 and
it happend again yesterday night! :

be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue.
