I had the same issue on Ubuntu 10.04 with Atheros AR9285, after I have
disabled IPV6 everything just worked fine. This card had the same issue
on other Linux distron also and the same fix worked again.

I'm having the same issue... must select "connect to hidden wireless
network", then select my network. Also, must input my privileged
password to connect! Running Mint 9 on a Dell D610 with an Intel
PRO/Wireless 2915ABG [Calexico2] Network Connection.

Wireless connection does not auto connect
I've got the same problem, except one thing - my wireless network is hidden.
No connection at startup, I have to manually click on "Connect to hidden SSID"
and then chose my SSID profile.

Acer Aspire 5100
Mint 9 64-bit
NetworkManager 0.8
WPA2-PSK
Ethernet controller : Atheros
