Tested with maverick 2.6.35-23-generic The system will boot on AHCI without timing out on the disk (see caveat below). The current version of maverick is unusable on the Toshiba owing to constant input events being required to enable the disk to operate. The easiest way to generate these events

Sorry, but for me, switching to compatible mode in the bios doesn't solve the problem. I have A blue screen when booting Windows because it cant recognize the device. Additionnaly, when you choose compatible mode, you have a non optimised control of the sata harddrive... For the moment I

This has fixed the boot. Windows on the other partition spent some time installing new drivers however both partitions now boot normally. Many thanks for that. While using Compatibility mode works fine for a netbook. Is this a problem for more normal desktops? -- kernel boot timeout on Toshiba
