I'm using Gutsy as my main system and I have just tried xteddy with and
without Composite enabled, and it works fine (Xorg with and without
xcompmgr and XGL with and without Compiz Fusion, just to make sure). As
far as I'm concerned this can be marked fixed, although I don't know if
this is so for
This seems to be working correctly for me here on Gutsy with an Intel
940 graphics card (I can wobble a window underneath a bear with a red
bow tie. The bear does not wobble but presumably this is the correct
bearhaviour).

I first reported this using a Radeon 9200 graphics card with the free
ati driver, but I am now using a laptop with the proprietary fglrx
driver where the problem persists. The output of lspci for the laptop
is:
00:00.0 Host bridge: ATI Technologies Inc RS480 Host Bridge (rev 10)
00:01.0 PCI
I can confirm this with feisty. I am using mga with a Matrox g400.
I just get solid white silhouettes instead of the pictures.
