This happens to me as well when i manual change a song. but when i let it go on its own it wont max out just when i change the song manually. I dont recall noticing it pre 10.10. but then i dont use headphones often. that's when i noticed it. Im on Ubuntu 10.10 and useing Rhythmbox 0.13.1 Still

I also got this problem. If a song finishes and the next song starts, then volume doesnt change. But if I manually change the song, the volume returns to 100%. I am using the Pulseaudio-equaliser package, would that have any effect?. No such behavior noticed with totem or vlc though. --
