I'm gonna mark this bug as confirmed and make the upstream to the rst2pdf
upstream. And try to improve the patch :)

There are several problems with that patch, so I wouldn't advice it be
applied:
1) It exits with code 0 in an error.
2) It prints the error message to stdout.
This is bad because rst2pdf also works as a filter, stdout should be
either a PDF, the expected output of a command line argument like
