In a virtual machine, a fresh install of Karmic 64-bit Desktop, with a modified
fstab, will boot after being upgraded to Lucid.
/etc/fstab DOES NOT have the /dev line...I was under the impression that it is
required since 10.04?

Uh, I freshly installed 10.10 a little while ago, after some hardware
upgrades. I'm installing Karmic in a VM, I'll check it out.
But if you can look at the upgrade script, you might just check if the
/dev line is added to /etc/fstab, especially in the case of user-
modified fstab.

Yeah, I made a mistake above, sorry.
The correct line for /etc/fstab is:
"dev /dev tmpfs rw 0 0"
i.e. with "tmpfs" instead of "devtmpfs"

Just updated from 9.04 to 9.10 without problem then from 9.10 to 10.04
and had the same error.
I tried this fix (update the etc fstab file from the livecd, on the mounted the
disk) but it didnt work for me.
I still get this error.
Any other advice ?
