Thanks everyone for all your testing and invaluable feedback. I was
also able reproduce the described issues with the Ubuntu package for
mp3fs version 0.21. As far as my analysis goes, the problem is caused
by the removal of the local talloc library (mp3fs comes with its own
copy of talloc) and
Confirmed... amd64 0.21 deb package does not work, same errors. 0.21
compiled source works great! Running Mint 9.

Please try the latest version 0.21 from Maverick which was uploaded just
a couple of minutes ago. This version includes two major fixes:
1) It allows path lengths longer than 256 characters.
2) 0.20 was broken due to updating to a newer fuse version which defaults to
asynchronous reads.

ubuntu/debian development, so I dont want to deal with my mistakes in

Hi, the problem is back again today :(
It's the same on my desktop (amd64) and my laptop (i386), both upgraded
from Koala to Lucid. No upgrade or restart since yesterday.
On laptop I've tried:
- mp3fs_0.13-0.0ubuntu1_i386.deb (official Lucid)
- mp3fs_0.14-0ubuntu1_i386.deb (Maverick)

In nautilus already the song listing in a directory is most of the times
incomplete and refreshing the directory gives a random number of songs from the

I'm sorry for my poor english.
In the meantime I tried to purge the package off and reinstall it and it
works now.
I had mp3fs working in 9.10, it was installed from some extra deb
package, and I made upgrade to 10.04. The package was, I think, left
intact through the upgrade process as it was
