Thanks for letting us know what brand of graphics card you are using.
Since this affects Chromium as well, the problem is likely not with
Firefox, so I am un-marking this as a Firefox bug.
Could you please let us know if there are any sites that consistently
cause this issue for you? And if there
I'm gonna mark this as invalid cause I found out that its a well known
bug with this graphics chip.

what graphics card you are using? If you are unsure, you can run the
following command in a terminal to find out:
lspci | grep VGA

This also happens with Chromium browser in the repos. Only happens when
browsing the web it seems but not absolutely certain. I also ran a
memory test and didn't find any problems. I tried booting a Lubuntu Live
CD and I could actually see an error message that would flash off and on
forever.
