Btw, for those people having the same problem (e.g. Dell Inspiron 9400
owners): I installed Fedora 13 on this machine and there seems to be no
such hard freeze during boot.

To clarify: removing all plymouth-theme-* packages seems to make the
boot more stable, i.e. it freezes less frequently. But it doesn't seem
to avoid all freezes completely, they still occur.

I did some more testing and found that removing all plymouth-theme-*
packages does not fully solve the problem, i.e. it still freezes. I also
noticed that the freeze can happen with or without automatic gdm login.

It would not be a bug in the plymouth theme. It may be a bug in
plymouth itself, but this will need a lot more debugging to be able to
say which component the bug lies with.

Could this be a problem with the ubuntu plymouth theme? It only happens
with ati cards, but I haven't had this problem (yet) after removing the
package plymouth-theme-ubuntu-logo.
