this were a problem in your config, maybe a bad update, cause I don't
see in the ubuntu repo a package who put your file in /lib instead of
/usr/lib
so I'm closing this bug as invalid, please feel free to reopen if you
think I'm wrong or the problem reappear

could you try to do
sudo mv /lib/libstdc++.so.6 /lib/libstdc++.so.6.old
does this fix your problem?
I have a similar system, and I think the right library should be in
/usr/lib and so the one in /lib/ could be deleted
