Thanks for the bug report all the comments. This particular bug has been
reported more than once. The bug 629646 already contains a link to an
upstream bug report, so I am marking this one as a duplicate. Plea
the applet is getting the information from libgweather, it contains the
data there.

Yep, the Sydney HTML page has now the same fancy formatting as Melbourne
- with (obviously) the same problem now.
The FTP site URL I posted previously has ALL the Australian city
forecast data in plain text identified by the existing BOM codes, it
would seem trivial to me for the code to be change
I can confirm that the forecast for Sydney no longer works either.
The url to change is actually in libgweather however changing it doesn't seem
to fix the problem.
If I am able to fix it I will post the patch.
Has upstream been notified about this bug?

I haven't been able to find out where to change / modify lookup settings
either. It would be nice if some of this info was published (or directed
where the info is) so we could make the changes ourselves. I hope the
developers for the applet are listening?

AFAIK you don't, the developers have to change the code of where they
obtain the various location information to directly use the BOM FTP site
- any other location is not guaranteed by the BOM to be reliable as they
make changes to their web sites.

I have just discovered that the BOM have been experimenting with the
formatting of the Melbourne forecast page that is used to extract the
info the applet presents:

The forecast text is currently massaged to be full of HTML formatting
whereas ci
I'm having the same issue where the applet shows the temperature, radar
but no forecast. BOM must have changed the forecast URL (As mentioned
above). Is this going to be correct or can information be given on how
to correct this?

I'm sorry but I don't know the details, I just remember a few months ago
there was a notice on the Melbourne BOM web page that there were some
changes (I think that I had to change my custom Radar map URL).
