it was fixed upstream now, the comment from the developer was: "now the
checkbox is always active if the archive type supports header
encryption." . Thanks for reporting.

Yes I can confirm that behaviour. Anyway it seems like a (minor) bug to
me. The checkbox should be active from the beginning and not after you
typed in the password.

I have just tested it. Typing the password first works as expected.
Can you confirm it?
Maybe the checkbox should be grayed while the password field is empty
