I have installed natty on a Lenovo Thinkpad X220 and got the same issue as
described (10X power-consumption display).
Seems like upower gets the wrong data. [ energy-rate: 308.969 W <-> present
rate: 27722

The value of "Energy when full" is much higher than the value of "Energy
(design)" so the percentage calculation is wrong

If you look around there are similar issues. Sometimes with other
notebooks and not always connected to resuming from standby. Maybe there
was a fix done wrong, so resuming from standby just "disables" that fix?
Keywords are upower battery wrong and so on.
This has nothing to do with gnome-power-s
and if I remove and reconnect the battery (with AC connected) and then
unconnect AC, I get right values again!

datasource I can verify this problem:

This bug also affects me, Ubuntu 10.10 with current updates (as of now).
I installed mainline 2.6.36 (final), this did not solve problem.
This bug occurs after waking up from standby. Power info now shows me:
"Energy: 481,1 Wh
Energy(Design) 60,7 Wh
Rate: 199,2 W
Voltage 11,8V"
so not everything
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. A new version of Gnome Power Manager is available on
Maverick and we are wondering if this bug is still an issue for you with
that version? Could you please test and comment back? Thanks in advance.

Turning it on and off again also resets to normal.

Same issue here on a Lenovo T510 notebook.
Note however that removing and reinserting the notebook battery resets
stats/calculations back to their correct values.

I see similar with my Lenovo x201 running Lucid. Often, if I suspend
with AC adapter attached then wake up without AC adapter the Gnome-
Power-Manager will show power consumption 10x too high and battery
'Energy when full' 10x too high. Consequently, the battery indicator
icon will show 10% charge.
