I also think that the ubuntu specific changes have been fixed upstream.
Note that osmo currently does not build with dash as the default shell
(debian bug #580017). I am really busy now but will try to fix this the
next weekend or so.

Please merge osmo 0.2.10-1 (universe) from Debian unstable
As I said in IRC, I'm convinced that the 2 changes were there to fix FTBFS in
the previous version, that has been fixed upstream.

Please merge
osmo package from Debian builds fine, so change to CFLAGS does not seems to be
required anymore.
Can you investigate what is the sense of the other change? It seems to be also
a FTBFS fix, so it won't be required anymore.
