I just experienced the same problem with Xubuntu 10.04 LTS. Happend while using firefox, did a reboot, all back to normal. dmesg did not show anything suspicious as far as i can tell. After all it seems to be a problem with some build-in graphic cards. See here: http://netgator.blogspot.com/2010/

Just a final note - The work around did not fix it every time, and I was never able to find a perfect fix. It bothered me enough that I finally reinstalled, and I am happy to report that it has not happened since, so at least we know it wasn't a hardware problem. -- You received this bug notifi

WORKAROUND: The font went crazy again, but this time I didn't reboot immediately. For no apparent reason, the font seemed to clear up a little after 5-10 minutes. Then, I changed the font from "subpixel smoothing" to "best contrast" and presto it fixed all the font immediately!! Based on my exper
