Public bug reported: Version: Maverick alpha
The "Indicator Applet" (NOT session) and "Notification Area" applets seem confusing and redundant to me. Their descriptions prove they have very similar aims. I am currently running with Notification Area only. If I run with notification area only, I have these: - Empathy - Sound (the old vertical one) - Network manager - Power Screenshot: http://i46.tinypic.com/ou6osi If I add the Indicator Applet, however, the power icon moves from Notification Area to Indicator Applet, and Empathy disappears completely. Therefore, In Notification Area: - Sound (the old vertical one) - Network manager In Indicator Applet: - Power - Sound (the new horizontal one) - That mail thingy Screenshot: http://i46.tinypic.com/1y8r3r I propose that these two very similar applets be merged, or easier still, remove Indicator Applet (as without it, the icons that would be in it move to the Notification Area). ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Description changed: + Version: Maverick alpha + The "Indicator Applet" (NOT session) and "Notification Area" applets seem confusing and redundant to me.
