Have you already tried to change the line "PaperType" from "Letter" to
"A4" in file /usr/local/Brother/inf/br(model name)rc or
/usr/Brother/Printer/modelname/inf/modelnamerc? After that, you have to
restart CUPS with "sudo service cups restart". Credits go to [1].

Lament the same problem with the Brother DCP-135C.
Suddenly, the press has begun to 'cut' the first part of A4 paper and I could
not solve the problem.
Also point out that it is not suggested any possible workaround.
