I have an Acer laptop with a Texas Instruments PCIxx21 Integrated FlashMedia Controller. I never tried the "sdhci" kernel module in dapper, but I can read SD cards using "tifm_sd" kernel module in Edgy. The module is not loaded by default, I just added it to /etc/modules.
