Drew,
I checked the /var/crash folder and there were no files in there. I
enable Apport again and crashed Firefox and still no files in the
folder. I checked and Terminal says Apport is running. I did a search
for coredump.gz and no joy on that either.

Could you please check in /var/crash for a crash report labeled Firefox?
Since you have crashed several times there should be multiple files in
there. I appreciate your enthusiasm to get this problem fixed but the
errors you see in the terminal aren't what we need to debug this
problem. We need a b

not see any report generated. Is it in a log file somewhere or did it
get sent to you

Could you please generate an apport crash report for this? A crash report will
help in resolving your problem.
You can enable apport for one instance like this in the terminal:
sudo service apport start force_start=1
