Audacious 2.4 has a simpler configuration dialog for crossfade due to
the fact that we rewrote it.

I'm not able to get the crossfade plugin working, so can't confirm this
behavior however the preferences page looks pretty complicated so it
wouldn't surprise me this is mixed up. The bug should go upstream
though.
